How We Celebrated Pride Month 2023, Fernway Style
Insane that it’s almost the end of Pride Month! Time flies when you’re having fun, and we had plenty of it this June. We also gave back and supported a cause that’s near and dear to us – the Massachusetts Transgender Emergency Fund – all month long.
Fun fact: Our home base of Northampton hosts their Pride Parade in May, because that way all the college students can attend before they head home for the summer. It was a gorgeous day – blue skies, good cheer, and rainbows as far as the eye could see. The Fernway team joined in the festivities and collected donations, and celebrated queer joy and inclusion alongside our friends and neighbors.

When our good friends at SEED invited us to sponsor their first Pride Block Party last year, we jumped at the chance – and this year’s was even better. Jamaica Plain turned out to celebrate, and the day was vibrant and alive with energy. We shared killer music, delicious food, chill times, excellent bud (obviously), and perhaps most importantly – lots of good dogs.

To round out an excellent month, we threw a karaoke jam at Majestic to collect more donations for the Massachusetts Transgender Emergency Fund. Our local gay bar was decked out in all things Fernway, and we belted out our favorite jams to a very appreciative audience. Shoutout to DJ Pearl for holding it down and inspiring us to new vocal heights.
There are a lot of people to thank for making this month so rich and exciting, but we want to one last time single out our friends at the Transgender Emergency Fund for doing the important work. They’re directly supporting and uplifting our trans friends, neighbors and family when they’re in need. If you feel passionately about doing that, consider lending them your support. We’re proud to contribute to their work for the second year in a row, and we look forward to continuing that support long into the future.
To everyone of you who came out to our events, joined the festivities, and stopped by our pop-ups to win a limited edition Pride battery – we just have one thing to say:
